Wildertag ("the App") is developed and operated by whosfromthegreatstate ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App.

By using Wildertag, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information. When you create an account we collect your email address and password. Authentication is handled through Supabase Auth. Your password is hashed and never stored in plain text.

Camera Images. When you photograph a plant, animal, or insect, the image is sent to the Google Gemini AI API for species identification and stored in Supabase Storage associated with your account.

Location Data. The App accesses your device location solely to power the recovery walk feature (the mechanic that asks you to walk 30 meters outdoors). Location data is processed on-device and is not currently stored on our servers.

Journal Entries. When a species is captured, we store the species name, description, rarity, and related metadata in our Supabase database linked to your account.

Automatically Collected Data. We may receive basic technical information such as device type and operating system version through our infrastructure providers. We do not use analytics SDKs or advertising trackers.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account.
To identify species from the photos you submit.
To maintain your personal species journal.
To enable the recovery walk gameplay mechanic.
To improve and maintain the App.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

Google Gemini AI — receives camera images you submit for species identification. Google's privacy policy applies to their processing of that data: policies.google.com/privacy.
Supabase — provides authentication, database, and file storage services. Supabase's privacy policy applies: supabase.com/privacy.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the third-party services listed above as necessary to operate the App, or if required by law.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information, journal entries, and stored images for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the address below.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls provided by Supabase. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

Wildertag is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your data.
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

9. Advertising and In-App Purchases

The App does not currently display advertisements or offer in-app purchases. If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App or on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
